About the Item

Rare 1920s Art Deco Jungle Green Ruba Rombic Glass Serving Dish by Consolidated Glass This rare 1920s Ruba Rombic serving dish, designed by Ruben Haley for Consolidated Glass Company, is a striking example of high Art Deco glassware. Crafted in vibrant Jungle Green glass, the piece embodies the mesmerizing cubist-inspired geometry for which Ruba Rombic is celebrated; its angular, pre-Brutalist facets and playful Jazz Age silhouette capture the bold modernism of the era. The dish features three compartments, perfect for serving candy, nuts, or other party treats, blending both functionality and avant-garde design. Produced by the Consolidated Glass Company of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania during the late 1920s and early 1930s, Ruba Rombic was one of their most iconic and daring lines. Designer Ruben Haley, also known for his collaborations on Phoenix Glass, took inspiration from leading European and American Art Deco masters such as René Lalique, Daum, Sabino, Etling, Schneider, and Steuben, while giving Ruba Rombic its uniquely American edge. Because these pieces were often lovingly used, many surviving examples show significant wear. This dish, however, is in nearly pristine condition with only one small flea bite on a corner (see photos). A rare find, it is highly collectible and sought after by Art Deco enthusiasts, collectors of Consolidated and Phoenix Glass, and admirers of Jazz Age design alongside the works of Lalique and Sabino. Condition: Excellent vintage condition for its age. Nearly pristine with one tiny flea bite to a corner.
