A rare and elegant handblown glass decanter designed by Edward Hald for Orrefors, Sweden, circa 1939. This sculptural decanter features a perfectly balanced spherical body with a long, tapering stopper, showcasing Hald’s refined functionalist aesthetic and mastery of form. The clear crystal displays exceptional clarity and weight, with subtle internal movement and light refraction typical of Orrefors’ finest production during the late 1930s. The base is engraved “Orrefors HU 139”, confirming its authenticity and attribution. Dimensions: Height: 17.5 cm (6.9 in) Weight: approx. 1000 g Condition: Very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age and use consistent with period. Edward Hald was one of the most influential figures in Swedish modern glass design preventable of shaping Orrefors’ international reputation during the early 20th century. This decanter is a strong example of his restrained yet expressive approach and is highly desirable for collectors of Scandinavian modern design.
