About the Item

Exceptionally rare Loetz oroplastic pattern low shaped bowl in 'seed green' with a black frieze of fruiting branches lightly decorated with gold. Although it is well documented that Loetz made this pattern, few examples turn up and when they do they are usually in blue, the green ones are very rare. Oroplastic design on glass was first created by Moser in c 1915 -it's an unusual technique employing acid cutback used to create a frieze of a usually repeating pattern -that is then gilded over the pattern to give classical look. The design was considered very innovative and very in keeping with the early rise of Art Deco -Moser's creation was quickly copied by many Bohemian glass houses including this example from Loetz
