About the Item

A rare and highly collectible set of six cocktail glasses designed by Kaj Franck for Nuutajärvi, manufactured between 1956–61. Model 1119 is a brilliant expression of Franck’s design ethos — simple, bold, and beautifully functional. The deep ruby red glass and softly rounded form give these glasses a strong graphic presence. Each is hand-blown, with minor natural variations in thickness and shape — small signs of their artisanal origin and mid-century craftsmanship. Manufactured at Nuutajärvi, Finland’s oldest glassworks, where Franck served as artistic director, these pieces are exceptionally rare in red and even more so as a complete set. A standout for collectors of Nordic design or anyone looking to elevate their home bar with something truly special. • Height 6 cm, Ø 6.5 cm • Model 1119 • Designer: Kaj Franck • Manufacturer: Nuutajärvi, Finland • Period: 1956–1961 • Excellent vintage condition with natural handmade variation • Sold as a set - prince includes 6 glasses NOTE ON THE DESIGNER: Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of the great visionaries of Finnish design. A pioneer of functionalism and democratic design, he created some of the most iconic everyday objects of the 20th century. His work continues to influence the way we think about beauty, utility, and timeless form.
