About the Item

Stem Glass in Amethyst Murano Glass with Spiral Stem in Gold Leaf Italy 1990s. Entirely handmade of Murano glass and gold leaf in the 1990s, this sophisticated stem glass is attributed to the Venetian glassmaker Maestro nicknamed "Caramea", one of the world's foremost and best-known master of blown glassware, mostly famous for his production of light and perfect glasses and carafes. This stem glass consists of a bowl and a base both made of plain amethyst Murano glass. The intensity of the colour varies according to the density of the glass, creating fascinating shades which make the stem glass darker on the base and light lilac on the top. The base and the cup are connected by a magnificent stem made of transparent glass worked in spiral, embellished on the inside with spiral lines in gold leaf. Inimitable in its craftsmanship, this stem of art is one of the works of art which make the name of Murano famous throughout the world.
