About the Item
Beautiful, rare antique Venetian ruby red with gold flecks cranes or swans Italian art glass place card holders. Very early pieces, in the manner of the Salviati and Fratelli Toso companies. The birds are depicted standing up, with long necks attached to the sides of the holders. The bodies, with feather and legs are incredibly detailed. They also have applied and flared out bases. The birds are profusely covered in gold leaf throughout and glitter in any light. As you can see one base is smaller than the other, but both holders are the same height. Would make a great display piece on any dining table, vanity or curio cabinet. Use them as decorative pieces on any table, card holders, or may even be used as cigarette holders. Late Victorian to Art Nouveau era. Collector items. They measures 5" tall x 3 1/2" and 3 1/8" wide respectively at the bases.
