About the Item
Vintage fused and cased glass vase features complex, multilayered composition of colored fused glass, metallic pigments, and gold foil on deep, jewel-toned, oxblood burgundy red glass background. The use of multiple layers of gold foil and metallic pigments and oxides creates fascinating visual effects withing the piece; as the viewer moves around the vase, various layers of glass become more or less prominent, changing colors and overall design.
The vase is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom.
Tim Lazer's love for glass began at Palomar Junior college in San Diego County under the influence of Val Saunders. After Palomar Tim studied further at CSU Fullerton, where he experimented with fusing metals and off-hand glass blowing, using different layers of glass, precious metals, and glass powders melted or fused onto the surface of the glass to obtain transparent, iridescent, lustrous and opalescent pieces. His studies at the Corning Museum Glass Center with Italian master Lino Tagliapietra had a great influence on his work. Working from his Sacramento, California, studio, Tim focuses on combining beauty and function to produce vases, platters, and other art glass pieces. He is represented by multiple galleries nationwide.

Roman Erlikh is a professional woodworker with over 20 years’ experience. Roman Erlikh Studio creates bespoke and limited edition contemporary furniture and art objects. His first furniture collections were inspired by traditional Art Deco and Biedermeier styles interpreted through a modern lifestyle demands. Stepping away from merely utilitarian view of everyday objects, his recent collections are filled with meaningful textual context while incorporating traditional and modern woodworking techniques. Roman is using practical function as a common denominator to create emotionally charged art objects, blurring the boundary between art and function. While appreciating possibilities of ordinary materials, Roman is developing new mixed media multilayered composite varnishes and utilizes decorative gilding and mica veneer to actively engage ambient light, giving an additional aspect to relation of his objects to their environment. The decision to work in custom format was based on environmental concerns and opposition to culture of mass production and pure consumerism. The choice of materials was heavily influenced by sustainability and environmental concerns. All objects are made locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard workshop. Elimination of storage and transportation needs for mass-produced furniture in lieu of creating a custom made objects on demand allows us to reduce waste of materials and energy.

Crystalline Glaze Ceramic Vase, Red and Beige, American Art Studio Pottery
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
The monumental studio pottery ceramic vase is decorated with crystalline glaze in striking, dark red and beige palette. The vase was hand thrown on a wheel; beige color crystals on ombre colored base, shifting from purplish tones on top to deep, dark red on the bottom, were grown in a kiln during a very long, controlled firing. Each crystalline piece is unique due to the nature of the glaze. The vase was allowed to develop an abundance of distinct, graphic crystals, creating a free-flowing abstract pattern and adding rich texture to the minimally shaped piece.
The vase was made by Wizards of Clay...
