About the Item
Vulcan glass sculpture by Alfredo Barbini, Murano, 1960s. It is sometimes called a volcano. Signed "A.Barbini" on the base (see photo). Measurements: Height 42 cm with base and 35 cm without base, width 20 cm, depth 11 cm. This sculpture by Alfredo Barbini is one of the most beautiful volcanoes I have ever seen. These blown glass craters are set in a thick glass plate with a slightly wavy surface.
The object has defects on the base highlighted in photos, but which do not affect the glass sculpture located above the base which is in excellent condition.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
