About the Item
A beautifully preserved early 20th-century set of six German stag-handled steak knives by Solingen, the legendary “City of Blades.” Each knife is finely crafted with a serrated stainless steel blade, several featuring colorfully enameled woodland scenes depicting stags beneath forest trees — a hallmark of early 1900s German decorative cutlery.
The handles are formed from naturally curved stag horn, showcasing rich texture and organic variation, capped with polished nickel collars and bolsters. These natural antler handles lend the set a refined rusticity, emblematic of hunting lodge and country house dining traditions of the period.
The knives are housed in their original removable-top fitted case, lined in champagne satin and retaining its original black pebbled exterior. The combination of early Solingen craftsmanship, natural materials, and artistic embellishment makes this a particularly handsome and collectible example.
