This is an extremely fine neoclassical French ornamental cast bronze, ormolu and glass liqueur set, circa 1840 in date.
This fabulous liqueur set is in the form of a finely patinated bronze sculpture of an elephant walking along and carrying an ormolu howdah with a large glass barrel on top and three fitted engraved glasses to each side.
The barrel is engraved and enameled with floral decoration and has a brass tap to serve the whisky from. The sculpture is raised on an oval plinth base that has a decorative shaped canted edge.
