About the Item

A striking Mid-Century Modern Mexican pitcher designed and handcrafted in the 1950s by Jeronimo Fuentes in Taxco, Guerrero. Sculptural, expressive, and instantly recognizable, this rare piece takes the form of a stylized toucan, one of Fuentes’ most sought-after figural silhouettes. The dramatic oversized beak is crafted in solid brass with geometric wood inlay, while the body is meticulously surfaced with hand-cut abalone shell tiles, creating an iridescent mosaic of greens, blues, pinks, and violets. The contrasting ebony-stained wooden handle completes the composition, giving the pitcher a bold architectural presence. A remarkable example of mid-century Taxco craftsmanship, combining Mexican modernist design, natural materials, and fine decorative artistry. The piece is signed on the underside: Hecho en México, Taxco, JF (Jeronimo Fuentes). This pitcher is a statement decorative object and a collector-level highlight for enthusiasts of Mexican silverwork, Taxco design, abalone inlay, and sculptural tableware.
