About the Item
Exceptional 20th century French white faience pitcher, produced in Malicorne-sur-Sarthe and attributed to Émile Tessier (1887-1971), a leading figure of the Malicorne ceramic tradition.
This elegant pitcher is distinguished by its raised fleur-de-lis decoration, a powerful emblem of French heritage, finely modeled in relief across the rounded body. The purity of the white faience enhances the sculptural quality of the decoration, giving the piece a refined and timeless presence.
The generously proportioned body, subtly flared neck, and twisted handle reflect the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of Malicorne production at the end of the 19th century.
Both decorative and functional in spirit, this pitcher embodies the understated elegance and historical significance that define French regional faience of this period.
Good condition, a small chip on the base and minor age-related wear consistent with time and use
A striking decorative object, ideal for display on a dining table, sideboard, or in a refined interior setting. Perfect for classic, château-style, country house, or curated contemporary interiors seeking an authentic French accent.
A rare and elegant example of Malicorne faience, combining history, craftsmanship, and timeless decorative appeal.
