The Argentor-Werke Rust
Hetzel was a major Austrian silver manufacturer headquartered in Wien. The history of the company dates back to 1863, when C. A. Münchmeyer
Co. was founded. This was built in 1894 on the narrow, elongated site between Kaiserstrasse and Wimbergergasse in the 7th district of Wien. In 1902, the yard tract towards Wimbergergasse 24 was further expanded. The company was very successful and had a production range of thousands of models and worldwide exports. A company publication from 1912 mentions about 9000 articles of goods. Branches were established in 1911 in Budapest and Brno. Its customers included not only the upper classes and the aristocracy, but also the imperial court. For their merits, the owners Georg Ferdinand Rust and Adolf Wilhelm Hetzel were awarded the title of kuk court purveyor. The Argentor works passed the First World War despite all the turmoil, but with increasing financial losses. It produced some works during the Second World War, but ceased to exist in 1970 at the latest.
