About the Item

This glass creamer is an example of late 19th- to early 20th-century Art Nouveau design, distinguished by its form and intricate silver mount. The rounded, low-bodied vessel is crafted from clear glass and encased in an ornate openwork silver frame. An engraved silver collar decorates the rim with a repeating floral pattern, while a sculpted C-scroll handle completes the form with balance and refinement. The clear glass body allows light to shimmer through the delicate silver tracery, creating a luminous, decorative effect. Although unmarked, the piece’s design and construction align with luxury silver-mounted tableware produced in the late Victorian to Edwardian period by American and Continental silversmiths. The absence of a “Sterling” mark suggests silver plate rather than solid silver, a common feature of intricate Art Nouveau metalwork. A striking union of materials and craftsmanship, this creamer embodies the elegance and artistry of turn-of-the-century decorative service ware—an exquisite accent for both display and use.
