About the Item
Rustic hand-thrown earthenware jug with bulbous body, tall neck, and expressive pulled handle. Decorated in ochre, black, green, and cobalt slip beneath a transparent glaze, forming a stylized scalloped floral motif around the shoulder. The red clay body shows areas of natural wear, surface crackle, and firing irregularities, all consistent with its age and handcraft origin. Likely from Hungary or Romania, c.1900–1920, representative of the rich folk pottery traditions of the Carpathian region.
