About the Item
Artisan Egidio Casagrande (1911-1962), hand hammered sculptural brass water pitcher made in Italy in the 1950s. Stamped on bottom, E. Casagrande - Borgo Valsugana Italy and 19.
Egidio worked in brass and copper. At thirteen he was apprenticed in the workshop of Luigi Taddei, specializing in the production of iron and copper. In 1937 he moved to Milan where he opened a workshop for the production of copper objects, but after a few years returned to his village. He made sculptures for public places. He worked with Hollywood films such as Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, and The Fall of the Roman Empire, that were filmed in Italy.
