About the Item

A spectacular Mexican silver pitcher designed and handcrafted by Emilia Castillo, one of Mexico’s most celebrated contemporary silversmiths. Daughter of master silversmith Antonio Castillo, Emilia carries forward the legacy of the renowned Castillo family dynasty of Taxco, Guerrero, while introducing her own distinctive artistic vision. This striking pitcher is designed in a sculptural leaf form, richly textured with incised diagonal lines. A finely detailed dragonfly appliqué with lapis lazuli wings and orange stone eyes adorns the front, adding both color and movement. The sinuous handle is inlaid with natural malachite, a hallmark of Castillo’s signature approach of blending silver with semi-precious stones inspired by the natural world. Stamped underside: Emilia Castillo, TO-85, Mexico M.R., Plateado, #0 Dimensions: Height: 10.5 in. (26.7 cm) Width: 11 in. (27.9 cm) including handle Depth: 4.5 in. (11.4 cm) Highlights: Designed by Emilia Castillo, internationally recognized for her fusion of organic forms, silverwork, and natural stone inlays. Part of the Taxco silversmithing tradition, established by her father Antonio Castillo and the iconic Los Castillo workshop. Features malachite inlay on the handle and a lapis lazuli dragonfly accent, showcasing Castillo’s distinctive aesthetic. A true collector’s piece, perfect as a functional pitcher, sculptural barware, or statement decorative object. Ideal for interior designers seeking unique, handcrafted Mexican silver to elevate refined spaces. Provenance Importance: As the daughter of Antonio Castillo, Emilia represents the next generation of the Castillo dynasty, one of the most important families in 20th-century Mexican silver design. Her work has achieved international recognition, celebrated for its organic inspiration, artisanal quality, and bold incorporation of natural stones. This piece is not only a functional pitcher but also a work of collectible Mexican design, representing the evolution of Taxco silver into the contemporary era.
