About the Item
A decorative ceramic pitcher with bouquet of flowers motif by the Cloutier brothers (circa 1970s). This charming pitcher was made in Cloutiers' trademark delicate style with light magenta as the base colour; the bouquet is in a rich blue which appears under the spout. The prominent handle is robust and striking. A delightful piece for your home or office and a real conversation starter. In very good overall condition. Upon request, a video can be provided. Maker's mark impressed on underside: 'Cloutier'.
About the Designers: Jean and Robert Cloutier are called the twin brothers of ceramics. After having apprenticed for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, the brothers created their own workshop located in Paris in 1955. They produced both functional and dreamlike decorative objects. After Paris and a brief interlude in the town of Yonne, France, the Cloutiers put down roots in the Languedoc region of southern France. Forever refining their ceramic processes, they are considered to have perfectly mastered their profession and are held in the highest esteem.
