About the Item
A rare George III Mug made in Sheffield in 1815 by Thomas Blagden
Company.
This very rare mug is of a small size and was most probably for the use of a Lady. The slender tapering sides stand on a spreading foot and are decoarted with plain horizontal girdles. This fine example has a slightly everted rim and plain scroll handle. The Mug is of a good weight and gauge and is marked on the side with a crisp set of hallmarks. Georgian Mugs, from this provincial centre of production, are exceptionally rare, especially for the use of a Lady.
