About the Item
A stunning tall and elegant hand-blown Polish art glass jug attributed to the Jozefina Glass Makers, Krosno and dating from around 1980.
The Josefina factory was founded in Krosno, Poland in 1980 by Jozef Jankowski, a renowned artist and glass blower. The factory is recognized worldwide as a maker of fine glass produced using traditional techniques.
This tall slender jug is cased in clear glass with a wide round foot and long narrow body and neck with a wider top with a dropped bird beak pouring spout. A clear glass raised handle is applied to the side. The jug encases an opaque brown marbled patterned body on a cream colored ground, lining the inside of the jug, with darker brown and black contrasting patterning with fine bubble inclusions. The jug has a flat polished base with a slightly recessed and polished pontil. The jug is not marked.
Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market.
In fine condition with light wear associated with age and use.
