About the Item
A large 19th century tin-glaze Pugliese Pitcher.
Featuring an elongated ovoid-shape body with a disc foot. The flat strap handle rises from just under the rim and ends just before the widest part of the lower body.
Painted with simple geometric shapes in deep rich tones. This jug demonstrates a Picasso style jug with the wonky pinched lip to the sprout - a very distinct shape with the overall design being prevalent for pitchers originating from the region of Puglia, Italy. This jug closely resembling a similar style to 13th, 14th and 15th century Tuscany jugs.
Dating back to the beginning of the 20th century.
