About the Item

The pitcher or vase was hand blown by Peter Secrest in Naples, NY. It has ruby red body with gold flakes inclusions throughout; it is decorated with applied textured blue and clear glass handle and striated multicolored collar. The bright, cheerful piece in postmodern or even Memphis style color palette combines various complicated, traditional techniques to achieve aesthetic balance within colorful visual display. Peter Secrest (b. 1951) is an established artist from a family of craftsmen, who's been working in art glass since 1977. He's renowned for his vases, vessels and bowls; he has exhibited nationally and internationally. His hand-blown glass pieces combine ancient methods with contemporary innovation. The piece is signed and dated (etched) on the underside; it is in excellent vintage condition.
