About the Item
The lovely, nice quality and very unusual pair of 2 blue and white octagonal pear-shaped ewers, Kangxi period. Both have two naked figures in a garden scene seated on rocks amongst flowers, one holding a scythe, the other a flower spray. They would be Adam
Eve. Even though both pieces had a rough life this is truly a magnificient pair. It seems according to the link below the lids are missing.

Height 340 mm approx, diameter 125 mm (4.33 inch), diameter of mouthrim 85 mm, diameter of foot 115 mm.
Earthenware double gourd vases with a large mouth. Decorated in different in blue on a white tin glaze in Chinese Transitional style with figures in a mountainous landscape.
In the period (1630-1645) the VOC (Dutch East India Company, 1602–1799) ordered Chinese porcelain through the Company's factory on Formosa (Taiwan). The Transitional style had been very popular in the Netherlands. As with kraak porcelain the decorative elements are taken from the repertoire of the Chinese Transitional style porcelain.
