This pitcher is an elegant example of Aesthetic silver plating, manufactured by the Pelton Brothers of St. Louis, Missouri. The clear influence of Japanese art on this pitcher suggests a date after the US Central Exhibition of 1876 where a lavish Japanese Pavilion featured the arts of Japan and fostered "The Japanese Craze" which influenced silver styles.
