1970's vintage French hammered copper and tin lined stockpot with lid and polished brass hand grips. Sur La Table is a kitchenware store in the US that started business in Seattle, Washington, in 1972. The stamps on this pot feature the store’s initials, “SLT,” with a separate MADE IN FRANCE stamp. This is an early company logo and points to copper from the 1970s. Mauviel was most often the manufacturer of SLT copperware. The hammered design adds both aesthetic value and durability to the pot. Hammered copper was traditionally made by hand, a process that strengthens the material. The combination of copper and brass is not just functional but also adds a touch of elegance. Brass stays cooler than copper, making it a preferred material for handles. The pot’s thickness of 2.1 mm indicates professional quality. Copper cookware is typically considered high quality when it is at least 2 mm thick, providing excellent control over cooking temperatures.
