This exceptional antique George V sterling silver tea tray has an oval shaped form.
The surface of this silver tray is plain and unembellished.
The raised rounded Chippendale style border of the tray is encompassed with applied moulded decoration to the shaped rim.
This antique silver tray is fitted with a fine pair of twin sterling silver handles ornamented with further applied moulded decoration paralleling the incurved shaped handpieces.
Condition
This antique tea tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. This two handled silver tea tray has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

A fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver galleried tea tray; an addition to our antique silver teaware collection.
This fine antique George V sterling silver tea tray has a rounded navette shaped form.
The surface of the tray is plain and unembellished.
The flared galleried border is embellished with pierced arch and vertical pale decoration accented with circular motifs to the elevating ends.
The upper rim of the hallmarked galleried border is ornamented with a band of applied reed decoration.
This impressive sterling silver tea tray incorporates a plain oval inset handle to either end, accented with a portion of pierced angular decoration to the nadir.
The underside of this pierced silver gallery tray bears the retailer’s mark ‘D & J. Wellby Ltd, Garrick St, London’.
