About the Item
Art Deco Period, sterling silver-mounted red glass, drum-form jam/jelly/condiments jar, with original sterling silver spoon, R. Blackinton and Co. North Attleboro, Mass., Ca. 1930's. Sterling silver crossed drumsticks on the sterling silver lid serve as the handle to lift the lid. Red glass liner is removable. The jar measures approximately 3 1/4 inches high (at highest point when lid is on) x 3 inches diameter. The sterling silver lid weighs 1.385 Troy ounces; the sterling silver condiments spoon weighs .570 Troy ounces and measures 5 inches long x 1 1/8 inches wide (at widest point which is the diameter across the bowl of the spoon). The sterling silver drum-form holder for the red glass jar weighs 2.265 Troy ounces without the red glass jar. The set consists of one sterling silver condiments jar (with its sterling silver lid and sterling silver drum-form holder) and one sterling silver condiments spoon. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.

For your consideration is this very sophisticated cut glass preserve jar held in a silver plate stand with matching lid . You can quite imagine this being used at afternoon high tea being held at the Savoy hotel. The stand itself is very attractive, fully hall marked E.P.N.S indicating the electro plating of the silver, fabulous filigree pattern detailing to the edges. Fantastic condition, free from tarnishing, scratches or any deterioration. The glass preserve jar itself is not only is it in remarkable condition but has a wonderful geometric pattern in a combination of jet black enamel with etched detailing and frost glass accents.
