About the Item

The plates were produced by Villeroy Boch at their Schramberg factory and is characteristic of the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style, which was popular around the turn of the 20th Century. It is made of Majolica, a type of earthenware, and features a raised decoration of water lily flowers and foliage, often with vibrant, varied lead glazes. Victorian Majolica, a broader category, was produced between 1849 and 1900, placing this plate within that historical period.
