About the Item

This Art Nouveau marquetry tray is a masterful creation by Émile Gallé (1846–1904), one of the most prominent figures of the École de Nancy. Crafted in the early 20th century, this rectangular tray showcases finely inlaid sunflowers set against a mountain backdrop. The raised sides feature elegant cut-out floral motifs, typical of Gallé’s organic aesthetic. The surface is decorated with rich wood inlays of various tones, creating a subtle interplay of texture and depth. The piece is signed “Gallé”. Take into account that the colors on the items may vary depending on the type of lighting and the type of screen from which you see the images.
