About the Item

Chinese Export armorial porcelain dish, Arms of Pole, circa 1745 The Chinese export armorial porcelain dish is painted with panels to each side with ships at sea near land and in one the depiction of a lighthouse. The armorial bearing is placed to the centre of the lower border and well and the crest of a falcon rising charged with a martlet (for a fourth son) to the top centre. In the centre is a large shaped panel painted with European buildings with hills and mountains in the background. Reference: Chinese Armorial Porcelain, David Sanctuary Howard, Page 326, J5.
