A large Anglo Indian padouk wood Lazy Susan

Large and rare 19th Century Regency Huanghali Revolving Drum Table or rent table. This fine quality regency period drum table has eight Camphor lined drawers in the frieze, two of which have Chinese script on the underside saying NO 1 and No 7. Each drawer is adorned with two brass knobs. The body of the table is supported on a central columnar stem with four splayed and line inlaid legs. The table is of large and important size and has attained a beautiful golden colour which is highly attractive. There are additional signs of quality visible throughout, from the fine detail on the column stem to the inlaid stringing on the legs and the particularly fine gilt brass lion’s paw castors. A centre table attributed to Holland and Sons related to a table in Clarence House, this exceptional table has a circular top decorated with six radiating amboyna veneers with a border of concentric marquetry rings. The decoration comprising kingwood bands within boxwood stringing, a continuous boxwood laurel wreath with ivory berries on a satinwood ground and further amboyna borders. The frieze has amboyna crossbanding and applied ormolu sunburst medallions. The support is composed of purpleheart columns inlaid with kingwood, terminating in low splayed feet, which encircle a classical urn on a plinth. The superb ormolu mounts include acanthus leaves, classical masks and patera. English, circa 1860. A table with a similar base and particularly fine ormolu mounts was exhibited by Holland and Sons in the International Exhibition in 1862 and illustrated as plate 40 in J. B. Waring’s book (see pages 100-103 for further references to this exhibition). English Regency mahogany Lazy Susan, rotary display turntable, dating to the Regency period, circa 1830. Of generous scale proportion at 20 inches diameter. Superb figuring accentuates this generously wide Lazy Susan. Displays a desirable aged patina and is in good working order. Cut from a fine grained piece of mahogany, with warm caramel hues that catch the light and glow with warmth. This piece shows incredible craftsmanship, the rim of the disc is hand carved out of the single board of mahogany, very difficult to do by hand.
