About the Item

A striking large hand-painted ceramic serving platter from Faïencerie de Gien, France, featuring the iconic Rambouillet hunting series. This impressive piece showcases a beautifully rendered wild boar at the center, surrounded by a richly detailed border of autumn leaves in greens, yellows, and warm earth tones. The textured cross-hatched background—characteristic of the Rambouillet décor—adds depth and a distinctly artisanal feel. The platter carries the Gien factory mark on the reverse. Like other pieces from this prestigious series, the design is inspired by traditional French hunting iconography and was originally conceived for the Presidential hunting lodge at Rambouillet. This makes the platter both a decorative highlight and a collectible work of French faience. A small chip to the backside rim is present (shown in photos), not visible from the front when displayed. Otherwise in very good condition. A superb piece for collectors of Gien, hunting-themed décor, or French country house interiors. Ideal for wall display, a dining room presentation, or as a statement centerpiece. Please visit our store for another large serving plate, 12 dinner plates and two serving bowls.
