About the Item

A striking large completely hand-painted ceramic serving platter from the renowned Faïencerie de Gien, France, decorated in the sought-after Rambouillet hunting motif. The design features an intricately rendered still life of traditional hunting equipment—rifle, horn, satchel, powder flask, and ammunition—set against a textured ground enriched with autumnal leaves in warm, natural tones. The border displays Gien’s signature cross-hatched patterning, creating beautiful visual depth. This piece is signed J. BERTHOLLE within the decoration and bears the Gien factory mark on the reverse. The Rambouillet series is highly collectible, originally created for the French presidential hunting lodge, making this platter not only a functional serving piece but also a decorative artwork with strong heritage appeal. A wonderful addition to any collection of French faience, hunting-themed décor, or country house interiors. Displays beautifully on a wall, dresser, or as a table centrepiece. Please visit our store for another large serving plate, 12 dinner plates and two serving bowls.

William Ridgway English Staffordshire Transferware Platter, Flosculous Pattern
By William Ridgway
Located in Philadelphia, PA
A black on white transfer printed floral platter in the Flosculous pattern, William Ridgway & Co., Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire England, circa 1830-1854. A gently scalloped black-printed platter in an unusual borderless pattern. Alternating floral sprays extend outward — from a three part scroll motif in the center — up the well and onto the rim of the plate. The term ‘flosculous’ means having flowerets or composite-flowered. This stylized pattern feels very modern. 19 in. L x 15.25 in. W x 1.75 in H A printed urn...
