About the Item

Hand carved circular presentation plate from semi-precious quartzite Azul Macaubas. Multiple use as plates, platters and placers. Dimensions: D 22, H 1.2 cm. Available in different marbles, onyx and quartzite. 100% Hand made in Italy. Marble is a natural material, every piece is unique as each marble block is different in veins and color shades. All of our creations are handmade by Italian artisans and can slightly vary in shape and size. This is to be considered as a guarantee of a handmade object. All Pieruga objects are made of precious and natural marbles and onyx. Marble is sensitive to acid-based liquids, especially a prolonged contact with substances such as wine, lemon, vinegar, fruit juices, cola and alcohol can stain the surface. Cleaning should be carried out with a soft sponge, water and neutral detergent. Do not use metallic or abrasive sponges, do not wash in the dishwasher, do not use in the microwave. The color of the marble after washing can undergo variations due to the humidity trapped in the surface’s micro-pores. Once fully dried it will regain its original color. The brass inlays tend to oxidize over time, to make them return to shine again use a soft cotton pad soaked in a solution of water and traditional Marseille soap, gently rub over the brass inserts and rinse the surface thoroughly. We are against the use of chemical products, all Pieruga objects are processed and polished through long manual processes without the use of polishing liquids. Pieruga proudly creates elegant accessories and complements in marble through artisanal processes, bringing into dialogue ancient techniques of sculpture with advanced technologies. 100% handmade in Italy. Our mission is a clear signal of opposition to the enormous waste that occurs in the extraction and processing of large blocks of marble, tons of material are discarded and thrown, in disfigurement to the generosity of our mountains. Rediscovering the ancient art of manual sculpture we give new life to even the smallest fragment of marble, bringing to light its millenary beauty that is lost in more than 2000 years of architecture and sculpture. Pieruga marble is a new brand by Barberini Gunnell. The Atelier Barberini Gunnell was founded by the architects and designers Francesco Barberini and Nina A. Gunnell The artworks by Barberini Gunnell are regularly shown at international art fairs, such as PAD London, PAD Genève, PAD Monaco, Salon Art and Design New York, Art Miami.
