Pair of Scalloped Sterling Silver Platters with Repousse Fruit Motifs
Located in Dallas, TX
First produced in 1907 by the American silversmith company, Reed Barton, this pair of sterling silver platters has repousse fruit motifs. Repousse is a metalwork technique where the verso (back) side is hammered to produce low relief images that can be seen when viewing the front. Curled leaves and C-scrolls seamlessly alternate along the outside of the platter to form scalloped edges. Beneath the crenelle are segmented sections (eight in total) that are adorned with alternating images of a cluster of fruit followed by a tall pinnate leaf.
