A magnificent, fine, large and impressive antique early Victorian English sterling silver salver by William Ker Reid; part of our antique salver collection. This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver salver has a circular shaped form onto four bracket style feet. The surface of this large salver is embellished with a broad, flat engraved floral, scrolling leaf and opposing scroll decorated border. The decoration to the surface incorporates a bright cut engraved crest depicting on the stump of a tree a crane statant*, above the central presentation inscription: 'Presented to Benjamin Banks Esqr. With a Service of Plate by the Clergy Gentry Merchants Traders of Sligo and its vicinity, To record their high sense of the very efficient manner he conducted the management of the Provincial Bank in that Town for a period of nearly Five Years, and his gentlemanly obliging courteous deportment, April 1843' The rim of this magnificent sterling silver salver is embellished with a fine and impressive applied scroll and shell decorated border. The salver is supported by four cast pierced scroll decorated bracket style feet. Although this early Victorian sterling silver salver displays the London Assay Office hallmarks, it was crafted by the renowned provincial Newcastle silversmith William Ker Reid * This crest pertains to the Andby/Andy/Andey family of Devon. Condition This antique silver salver is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The flat engraved and bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the salver are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Indian Colonial silver salver by George Gordon Co - boxed; part of our antique salver collection. This magnificent antique Indian Colonial silver salver has a circular shaped form onto three bracket style feet. The surface of this antique silver salver is embellished with a broad, flat engraved floral, scrolling leaf and opposing scroll decorated border. The decoration to the surface incorporates a central contemporary engraved presentation inscription 'Presented to Capt H.A. Thompson 50th Reg M.N.P. By Colonel Green and his Brother Officers, in acknowledgement of his unremitted EXERTOONS as Mess Secretary for a period of nearly six years during the whole of which times his Conciliatory and Obliging demeanours have so essentially contributed to the HARMONY and well being of the Regimental Mess, December 1842'. The rim of this magnificent sterling silver salver is embellished with a fine and impressive fruiting vine decorated border, accented with large leaf designs and grape clusters. The salver is supported by three cast scroll decorated bracket style feet. This magnificent salver is fitted to the original hinged oak wood presentation box, with a satin and velvet lined interior. The exterior surface of the box is fitted with brass mounts, in addition to a vacant cartouche to the cover; the mounts are a fine feature and indicate the high quality of the piece. This boxed Indian silver salver embodies fine craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage, making it an exceptional gift for weddings, anniversaries, retirements or corporate presentations. At home, it lends refinement and a sense of tradition when displayed on a sideboard, dining table or within a cabinet. Condition This antique silver salver is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The flat engraved and engraved decoration is all very crisp. The original presentation box shows some indications of wear, in keeping with age. The Indian maker's mark struck to the underside of the salver is very clear.
