About the Item

This is a beautiful and collectible vintage ceramic plate designed by the celebrated Italian architect and designer, Guido Andlovitz (1900-1971), for the Società Ceramica Italiana (S.C.I.) Laveno. Produced during the vibrant Art Deco period of the 1930s, this piece is a testament to Andlovitz's influential work as the artistic director for the company for nearly four decades. The plate features a charming and elegant illustration of a woman in a striped skirt, holding a bundle of wheat against a simple, white crackle-glazed background. The drawing style is characteristic of the period, with a sophisticated, slightly whimsical touch that captures the essence of early 20th-century Italian design. The reverse side of the plate proudly displays the distinctive green backstamp of the Società Ceramica Italiana Laveno, featuring an eagle emblem and the words "VERBANUM STONE SCI LAVENO." This mark, used during this era, confirms its authenticity and high-quality production. This plate is in good vintage condition, with the natural crazing of the glaze that is common for pieces of this age, adding to its character and charm. It is a perfect addition for collectors of Italian ceramics, Art Deco design, or anyone who appreciates the work of Guido Andlovitz.
