About the Item

Add distinguished character to a study or library with this finely executed antique wall plate. Crafted in Germany circa 1880, the large round porcelain plaque depicts the portrait of a nobleman in elaborate Renaissance attire, complete with a feathered hat and richly detailed clothing. The portrait is beautifully hand painted with exceptional realism and depth, capturing the sitter’s confident expression and refined bearing. The ceramic medallion is mounted within its original pewter frame, intricately decorated with repoussé floral and beaded motifs alternating with round medallions. The piece remains in excellent condition with a deep, aged patina on the metal and vibrant painted hues on the porcelain. A striking decorative accent for traditional interiors. Measures: 17.5" diameter.
