About the Item

A beautiful and rare pair/set of antique English porcelain hand-painted cows by Chelsea Porcelain company, circa 18th-century, 1756 - 1769, England. Cows/bovine with detailed horns and ears are shown relaxing lying down on green grass pasture, tail wrapped near back hoofs. Pair/set are hand-painted and have signature authentication 'gold anchor' mark on lower back center (shown in second to last image.) The gold anchor period dates from 1756 - 1769. Very good condition as shown in images and video. No chips noted. Dimensions: 3.25" Width x 2.57" Height. About: The Chelsea Porcelain Company was founded in 1743 by two Frenchmen: Charles Gouyn a goldsmith and Nicholas Sprimont a silversmith. The Chelsea Porcelain company was the first important porcelain manufacturer in England. Its early soft-paste porcelain pieces were aimed at the aristocratic market.
