About the Item
Quite possibly one of the Finest pieces of early 19th Century English porcelain attributed to John Rose Coalport. This "Periwinkle ground" relief-made dessert shell is considered as the most collectible of Coalport's early works. The magnificent hand painted botanical floral spray in the center is as good as any painting of the period. This dish was from a larger service that had the "J. Rose Coalport, Society of Arts mark of 1820" on several matching pieces (now sold). There is an image showing the rear with an incised "1" or "7". This shell-shaped dessert dish is as fine as they get and in near-pristine age-appropriate condition (but for a tiny bit of gilt rubbing.)
There is another similar one currently in stock if interested.
