Circa 1880 Pair of French Porcelain Large Ovoid Form Vases. Aesthetic Movement. Each decorated with vast reserve featuring a bird on a flowering branch watching butterflies, reversing to large floral stems - the seasons are represented in the foliage colors. A true facing pair. Aubergine gilt shaped bases; aubergine, gilt black line scrolled handles. The extraordinary quality gilding features bright shaded effects. Gilt rims with black tendrils. Very good condition; minor wear mostly in the black lines. Provenance: Dr. John Fryer Collection, London Chapel Hill. 14 1/8" h., 9" w., 5.5" d.
