About the Item
Fine polychrome and gilded white porcelain inkwell, made by the prestigious Hungarian manufactory Herend and painted entirely by hand. The molded base, with a wavy profile and gilded edge, is decorated with multicolored butterflies, while a scene with two birds on a branch, belonging to the famous "Rothschild Bird" motif created around 1860 for the Rothschild family in Vienna, stands out in the center.
Inkwell includes inker with attached flower lid and matching pen holder. On the bottom it bears the blue Herend Hungary Handpainted mark and model number.A charming desk object combining aristocratic elegance and decorative quality, ideal for collectors of European porcelain.
Measurements: 21.5 × 16.5 cm; inkwell height 7 cm.
