Hutschenreuther Selb Germany rarest tall lady nude called "Aphrodite" The details are stunningly scupltured = finest modelling Manufactory: Lorenz Hutschenreuther Porcelain Manufactory / Selb (Bavaria/Upper Franconia), Germany Dating: made 1946-1948 Hallmarked: Lorenz Hutschenreuther Mark: Lion Enclosed in Ellipse with characters 'LHS' and 'Germany / Kunstabteilung' (= Art Department) letters 'US ZONE' which means that this figurine was made circa 1946-48. FIRST QUALITY Red painted stamp mark 'WS' is visible at reverse side (= painter's sign). Design: possibly Emil Paul Börner (1888 - 1970) Material: cream white porcelain, partially painted, glossy finish Technique: handmade porcelain Subject: A figure of a posed lady nude 'APHRODITE' This excellent tall female figurine is of finest quality (= nicest appearance !). The nude lady wearing a pearl necklet is accompanied by three cherubs floating in air although they haven't any wings: One of the cherubs admires the pearl necklet, the second one holds a round mirror, the third one seizes the cloth which is attached to lady's right forearm. The figurine - called 'Aphrodite' - stands on round base. Aphrodite is an ancient Greek goddess associated with love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She is identified with the planet Venus, which is named after the Roman goddess Venus, with whom Aphrodite was extensively syncretized.
