German Phanolith Charger by Jean Baptist Stahl for Mettlach Villeroy and Boch, circa 1900. Measure: 21”.
Charger is made by the Mettlach factory of Villeroy and Boch, by Jean-Baptiste Stahl (German 1869 – 1932) was the inventor and designer of the Phanolith.
Phanolith is a kind of porcelain that combines the characteristics and benefits of jasper ware (Wedgwood) and pâte-sur-pâte (minton). It was developed at Villeroy
Boch in Mettlach, Germany, at the end of the 19th century.
