Mid-20th Century Johnson Brothers "Indian Tree" China, Set of 49 Pieces. This iconic design features richly colored floral and foliate motifs in vibrant greens, reds, and blues with gilt highlights and decorative borders. The set design was inspired by traditional Indian textile and porcelain patterns. Set includes: - 8 Dinner Plates, 10" Diameter - 2 Oval Platters, 12" Long -2 Vegetable Serving Bowls, 8.5" and 9"x7" - 9 Salad Plates, 8" - 8 Soup Bowls, 8" - 8 Bread Plates, 6.5" - 7 Saucers, 5.5" - 5 Cups, 6oz Each piece is stamped on reverse side with the Johnson Brothers signature. Johnson Brothers was founded in 1883 in Strafford, England and became internationally recognized for producing durable, affordable and finely decorate earthenware. The Indian Tree pattern was one of the company's most widely collected designs. In today's homes, this set can be used traditionally, or mixed with modern tableware to create a layered look that highlights its historic charm. It can also be displayed in a china cabinet or on open shelving for a touch of vintage English character.
