About the Item
An Elegant Late 18th Century New Hall Porcelain Teapot, Hand-Painted Floral Decoration, c. 1790–1810. Pattern number 253
A charming and beautifully preserved New Hall hard-paste porcelain teapot, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. This refined example showcases the clean lines and balanced proportions that made New Hall one of Britain’s most admired porcelain manufacturers of the Georgian era.
The teapot is formed in New Hall’s distinctive lobed, straight-sided “London” shape, with crisp facets that catch the light beautifully. The body is decorated with delicate, hand-painted floral sprays in rich pinks, reds, and soft greens, executed in the fresh, spontaneous style that characterises New Hall’s enamel painters. A finely painted red enamel scalloped border encircles the rim, echoed on the lid and spout.
The underside bears the hand-painted pattern number “253” in iron-red, consistent with New Hall’s enamelled decoration of the 1790–1810 period.
Dimensions: 26cm wide, 13 cm deep, 16cm high.
Condition: Light, expected wear for age; displays beautifully, minute chip to the spout. No restoration. The enamel painting in goods condition with only minute faults.
