About the Item

A striking pair of large Japanese blue and white porcelain plates from the Meiji period (1868–1912), featuring a distinctive cut corner square form. These pieces showcase a classic blue transfer decoration on the front, richly detailed and wonderfully preserved. The backs are also beautifully decorated, and unlike the front, appear to have been hand painted, providing a subtle but elegant contrast in technique. Both plates remain in mint condition and come from a well regarded estate, owned by one family for generations. A fine and rare find for collectors of Japanese porcelain or lovers of Meiji-era craftsmanship.
