About the Item

Meissen Charger with Floral Bouquet Decoration Marcolini Period, circa 1800 A large Meissen porcelain charger decorated with stylized bouquets of flowers, exemplifying the refined aesthetic and technical mastery that distinguish Meissen porcelain. The floral motifs are elegantly arranged and rendered with a delicate touch, typical of early 19th-century Meissen decoration. The Royal Porcelain Factory of Meissen was established in 1710 within the Albrechtsburg Castle, under the patronage of the ruler of Meissen, to produce high-quality hard-paste porcelain. From 1774 to 1814, the factory was under the artistic direction of Camillo Marcolini-Ferretti, who introduced the addition of a star above the two crossed swords mark, now recognized as the “Marcolini brand.” This period is celebrated for its exceptional artistic quality and innovative decorative schemes, of which this charger is a fine example.
