The details are stunningly sculptured = finest modelling Manufactory: Meissen Dating: Made circa 1880 Hallmarked: Meissen Mark of fourth quarter of 19th century (circa 1880) First quality model number D 81 / former's number 94 / painter's number 45 Material: Multicolored porcelain, glossy finish Technique: Handmade porcelain Style: Rococo Modeller: Michel Victor Acier (1736 - 1799) Model D 81 created 1772. The sculptor was born at Versailles / France. He had studied Art of Sculpture in Paris and was appointed as sculptor of Meissen Porcelain Manufactory then (1762). Acier created many models generally in style of Rococo and specially in Watteau style. Finally, the sculptor became Model Master of the Saxon King in year 1780, moving to Dresden then. Specifications: It is an outstanding Meissen figurine group depicting allegory of water (deriving from a 'series of four elements'): a nereid (= nymph of the sea) is situated in a carriage shaped as shell which is gliding over the waves of sea. An arced piece of cloth appears above head of nymph, seemed to be blown by the wind. The nymph is accompanied by a pair of female tritons, one of them pulling the carriage, the other one pushing it. Additionally, a triton child is blowing a wind instrument made of shell, whereas a cherub is riding on fish. Finally, there are most remarkable decorative details existing - these ones are sculptured shells gliding Over the waves of sea.
