About the Item

Elegant pair of French “Porcelaine de Paris” dessert trays, finely decorated with delicate floral motifs executed with remarkable artistry. The color combination – burgundy, white, and gold – is refined and harmonious, while the hand-painted 24-karat gilt details highlight the exceptional craftsmanship. The trays were crafted in Napoleon III style between 1880 and 1885 by skilled artisans, following traditional methods and using high-quality kaolin as the primary material. “Porcelaine de Paris” pieces usually do not bear identifying signatures, though they sometimes feature impressed marks on the underside or hand-painted numbers. In this case, the handwritten number 2518 is visible, which may refer either to the decorative model or to the artisan’s code, depending on the workshop of origin. The term “Porcelaine de Paris” does not designate a single manufacturer, but rather refers collectively to the various workshops and studios active in and around Paris, celebrated for their craftsmanship and refinement. Many of these makers remained anonymous or left behind only a few rare examples. Nineteenth-century “Porcelaine de Paris” is highly sought after by collectors and represented in major museum collections worldwide. Thanks to their elegance, these two trays can be proudly displayed on a sideboard or inside a cabinet, adding a touch of refinement and prestige to any setting. Condition: Good. Dimensions: Diameter 24 cm (9.4 in), height 3 cm (1.2 in).
